The PMZ-16 was a foam fire engine built by the Soviet Union in the early 1950s, with production taking place from 1956 to 1959. This chemical foam fire engine was designed to transport fire brigade personnel, foam powder, chemical foam-generating equipment, specialized tools, and fire-fighting gear to fire sites. The PMZ-16 was based on the 6×6 all-wheel-drive three-axle ZIS-151 chassis, though several modifications were made to it.
The PMZ-16V represented a further development of the PMZ-16, also utilizing the ZIS-151 chassis. Its superstructure featured a device on the roof for easy handling of foam discharge hoses. In addition, several modifications were made to the vehicle compartment: two windows were installed at the rear to improve natural lighting inside the cabin; the side windows were equipped with non-slip vents; the side pipes were repositioned; the handles used to open the compartments were different; and the interior wall lights differed from the previously used free-hanging lights.
