In 1888, two brothers, Li Changchun and Li Changzhao, founded Li Jiazao in Yuliao Street, Qinzhou, with their excellent pottery-making skills. They pioneered the use of white clay and red clay to make fine Nixing pottery, and developed a clay recipe that is used in the industry today.

According to the Qinzhou Daily, Li Changchun was a good calligrapher, a good painter, and a good carver. He made nixing pottery, painted with landscape figures, flowers, birds, insects and animals, and written in seal script and official script. Later, in 1914, Li Changchun taught full-time at Qinzhou High School, and his younger brother ran the brick-hearth pottery business alone for 45 years, making brick-hearth pottery with solid texture, good gloss, resonant sound, simple and elegant. The pottery is acid and alkali resistant, and has high artistic and practical value as it can be used for flower arrangement and tea. In 1915, the work "Landscape Vase with Flowers and Birds" won a gold medal at the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, which was the first time that Qinzhou's pottery went global. was awarded the gold medal.

The Formation of Nixing Pottery

The eastern clay is stored in a closed area, while the western clay is taken back and exposed to sunlight for four to six months or more. The western clay is taken back and mixed in a ratio of 4:6 to make a pottery blank. The eastern clay is soft as flesh and the western clay is hard as bone, so that the flesh and bone can support each other.

How to open a new teapot

Step 1: Rinse the teapot inside and out with cold water.
