Ship Prototype History:
The New Jersey Battleship Was The Second Ship Of The Iowa Class Battleships Built By The United States In The Early 1940s. Built By The Ferrara Naval Shipyard In 1940 And Delivered To The Navy In 1943, It Later Served As The Flagship Of Admiral William F. Halsey' S Third Fleet And Participated In The War Against Japan. In June 1948, He Was Discharged From Active Duty And Assigned To The Atlantic Reserve Fleet In New York. In November 1950, He Was Re Commissioned To Participate In The Korean War And Transferred To Reserve In August 1957. Joined Active Duty In 1968, Participated In The Vietnam War, And Retired Again In December 1969. In October 1982, The Modernized New Jersey Was Once Again Commissioned, Retired In 1991, And Opened To The Public As A Museum In 2001.
