In November 1956, he was admitted to the Purple Sand Factory to study the purple sand craftsmanship and studied under Wu Yungen, Zhu Kexin, Pei Shimin, Jiang Rong, and others. In 1973, he entered the Purple Sand Factory Research Institute and specialized in the design of purple sand pottery shapes. In September 1975, participated in the "Jiangsu Province Daily Ceramic Art Design Training Course" organized by the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. In 1998, he officially retired from the Purple Sand Craft Factory. In 2007, Wang Yinxian was selected as one of the first batch of "Representative Inheritors of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects". The selected project was Yixing Purple Clay Pottery Making Skills. In February 2012, he participated in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Achievement Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Culture and other ministries of the People's Republic of China.
